National Museum of Fine Arts - MNBA - Museu Nacional de Belas Artes
A stunning gallery of art.
Though inaugurated in 1938, the National Museum of Fine Arts takes the visitor back to the arrival of the Portuguese Royal Family in 1808. Travelling with a veritable treasure trove of artwork, the royals would return to Portugal without some of their treasures as a venerable selection of works remained in Brazil.
The Fine Arts Museum of Rio is today home to over 15 000 works of art. Paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings by major Brazilian and international artists are to be found within the Fine Arts museum: a rich palette of international art.
